VBGB Beer Hall and Garden/Restaurant

The large outdoor patio at this Bavarian-themed beer garden has plenty of space for pets to play while their owners mingle. VBGB is very popular with families on weekends and is an all in all great place for pets, kids and parents to socialize and have a great time.

Dog Bar Charlotte

This small, laid-back pet-friendly joint has the local feel of a classic dive bar and has become a favorite with dog owners in Charlotte. The staff here is nice and so are the drink prices! The place does justice to its name, and dogs can be found literally sitting at the bar playing with bartenders or on top of picnic table-style benches. Dog Bar is also very active in the community, hosting lots of fundraisers benefiting local animal rescue efforts. Foster pet parents also show up occasionally with adoptable puppies! The $10 annual membership fee certainly won’t feel like a burden to pet lovers who stop by.

Sycamore Brewing

Built next to the famous rail trail and rug mural, Sycamore is a great place to combine dog walking in South End and a love for beer! The outside part of the bar is a large dog-friendly beer garden complete with bowls for your pet. The location is great for photo opps or for taking a nice scenic stroll on the nearby rail trail. With this in mind, Instagram competitions are held to pick the best dog beer garden pictures. If guests get hungry, they can find a new food truck at the venue every day of the week, with a larger combined food truck event on Fridays. On the first Wednesday of every month Skipper and Work For Your Beer host the Skip For Your Beer group dog walk starting at 6 pm and covering 1.5 miles of rail trail.

Walk your dog in Dilworth and head to the Lebowski’s pet-friendly patio. This popular Charlotte restaurant offers great food and service, with lots of options for vegetarians with plenty of local craft brews available. The patio area is pet-friendly, and dogs are served water and dog food in bowls. This is a great place to grab a bite to eat with your pet and is a local favorite for late night gatherings.

Zeda Jane’s Corner Cafe

One of Charlotte’s favorite brunch and breakfast spots, Zeda Jane’s combines the eclectic and funky decor of a neighborhood dive bar with a family-friendly atmosphere. The large outdoor patio includes firepits to keep guests warm, and table umbrellas to provide shade and relief from the heat when it’s sunny out. In this part of the restaurant we can also find outdoor games like shuffleboard to keep kids, adults and their canine friends busy before the food arrives. Servers bring water bowls for pups hanging out with friends and parents on the patio. The place gets packed on weekends and the waiting times can get long, so get there early to avoid them.
