Skipper Dog Walkers in Charlotte, NC
Skipper’s walkers will treat your pets just like the family they are. Before we hire a Skipper walker, they go through a 5 step interview process with a 10-15% acceptance rate. After they pass a federal background check, they go through 15 hours of classroom training and spend a day shadowing a Skipper walker. They are trained in first aid, issue recognition, and how to uphold the standards of our clients, not just taking a test like some local walkers. Because our walkers are W2 employees, we are able to properly train them to guarantee they uphold our standards of care. All Skipper walkers are required to wear purple shirts to help identify for security purposes. If they ever have any questions, our back office is there to support them with immediate responses at all times. Skipper sets walker’s schedules for them based off of availability and location, so they don’t have to compete with other walkers.
Local Dog Walkers in Charlotte, NC
Many local dog walkers in Charlotte, NC are full-time or part-time employees and aren’t working on a contract basis. Because of this, companies are more in control of their dog walks in Charlotte, NC. However, many local dog walking companies still don’t require the extensive training classes that Skipper offers employees. While a background check and references are checked, many local companies rely on previous pet experience and not having to train employees on sitting or dog walking themselves. Some of these companies walk multiple dogs at once, increasing the risk of injury to dogs due to fights. It’s also easy to lose track of a dog or drop a leash when handling more than one at a time.
Skipper App vs. Local Apps
The Skipper App
Skipper’s app features several items to let pet owners know that their family member is happy and safe. Unlike local companies’ online scheduling and processing systems, Skipper’s app allows the walker to include multiple photos in the visit report. Skipper’s app will give you potty updates, visit notes, pet photos, and a GPS-tracked map of their walk. The user can even add free add-ons like requesting their walker to bring the mail inside or feeding their furry friend. Skipper doesn’t have a rating feature for our walkers because each of our team members completes 15 hours of in-class and hands on professional training to ensure that every dog walker upholds Skipper’s standards.
Many local dog walking companies do not offer dog walking applications for phones at all. Local companies’ dog walking “app” is usually an online computer scheduling system or no online system at all. Most of these computer systems are outdated, take a long time to load, and aren’t mobile and user friendly. Customers will not receive a visit report, photo updates, and may receive no communication at all. A few companies still rely on customers to go in their store and schedule dog walking, which is inconvenient for customers if they can’t leave work or plan the walking ahead of time. The great thing about Skipper’s app is customers can plan dog walking whenever they need it, even day of.

Skipper vs. Local
Skipper Dog Walking Services
Skipper goes the extra mile to ensure that your furry friend is in safe hands during every walk. We require an in-home consultation with every client before we will walk your dog. Why? At the consultation, we’ll go over important pet information and home access instructions. We begin to build a custom detailed pet profile that can include visit routines and important details. Our W2 walkers are trained to handle any situation, and as dog lovers, they will treat your prized family member like their own. Customers can directly contact Skipper at all times to change walk preferences or ask a question with an immediate response. Skipper is fully insured and takes all liability for our walker employees. We are selective and detailed to uphold safety standards and our reputation as the most trusted dog walking company.
Local Dog Walking Services
While local dog walking companies may offer the same services as Skipper, they generally are more expensive and less convenient for customers. If you search dog walking services near me, many of these companies will pop up. However, local companies don’t have an app that you can use on your phone to schedule same-day dog walking and they charge large fees for last-minute service. Many local companies still use outdated computer systems that allow users to schedule online. These systems aren’t user friendly and usually don’t work on mobile. If customers have last minute changes or want to check up on their pup after their walk, they’d have to call the company. Unlike Skipper, many of these local dog walking services don’t require extensive training or classes before their employees are able to begin working.
